Food entry

I just noticed that I haven't been posting much pictures lately...As I'm trying to procrastinate, here you go, FOOOOOOOOOODS in Melbourne for this one and a half month!

Fried egg with tomato at China Bar. Had this one and a half month ago, so I forgot the price, but I guess around $8. Yes, I know you could buy dozens of eggs and tomato in Malaysia for RM24, but read from internet that this dish is really good...I decided to give it a try and it didn't let me down~^^ Ahh, that was the first time I didn't order 黄焖羊肉面 in China Bar!

Fer's 海南鸡饭 @ China Bar. She loves it!

Plain pretzel, from Pretzel World. $2.80 if I'm not mistaken. Bought it after finishing my large biotech in modern society assignment. Umm, it was quite fresh, and I love its unique texture~Since it was plain (because you need to pay more for other flavour/sauce), I could taste its original taste, I wouldn't say YUM, but yeah, not bad.

Pastizzi~ Before and after~ 御用锅贴 at 中华名小吃 (Dumpling Plus)~10 pieces for $8.50. The best 锅贴 I had in Melbourne after 渔乡阁~Quite a huge portion with reasonable price.

羊肉火烧饼, at Dumpling Plus, $5. We were expecting something flat instead of round in shape lol~Anyway, the skin was a bit too thick (and I love it), and the lamb inside, err, not that good (to me).

西北羊肉汤拉面(手工拉面) at Dumpling Plus, $8.80. Awww we loveeee this! Imagine you having this in a cold weather...It consists of lamb (a generous portion of lamb!), sesame, mushrooms, 木耳, vege and 香菜 (=.= the only bad guy in the noodles!). Probably because it's handmade, the noodles wouldn't become too soggy even though it has been soaked in the soup for a long time. Painfully, painfully good.

小笼包 at Dumpling Plus, I guess aroudn $6/7/8. We ordered this in our second visit to Dumpling Plus. The first xiao long bao I've ever tried in Melbourne! (because xiao long bao are usually more expensive compared to dumplings). They were tasty - the fillings were VERY juicy and fresh, the soup inside didn't taste "porky" (I wonder if I use the correct word? =p) and the thickness of the skin was just good! I really enjoyed them~

Next will be dim sum in Shark Fin Inn. Don't worry papa mama, although they are famous of sharkfin, we did not order any sharkfin/crabs/oyster/lobster~But still, 2 of us spent $50~*blush*皮蛋瘦肉粥. A must for fer fer in yum cha~

烧卖. Sorry, this is what you will get when taking photos with a crappy 2.0 megapixel camera (a.k.a my mobile phone~). I know they don't look tasty, but believe me, they are as fresh and juicy as you can imagine~

虾饺. Same as siu mai, a must in yum cha....Can you see how 晶莹剔透 the skin is? and the prawns were reallly fresh! Oh, and they add some bamboo shoots, to make it more "crispy" I suppose?
韭菜饺. Haven't seen this stuff for quite some time. Tastes good as well!

带子豆腐. A bit too oily too me, but oh gosh, the scallops were sinfully huge and fresh.

A close-up of the scallop~*drooling*

虾肠粉. You can see how big the prawns are. I was sick of prawn then. so 折堕~

奶黄包~Our absolute favorite in yum cha!

My beloved Calamariiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Fried dish with prawn. The prawns were really huge. As I told you, I was sick of prawn that day.....=.=

And we finished off our sumptouos lunch with egg tarts~I would love to order another one, but this was their last serve....T.T

Croissant with ham + cheese. Ohhh~~~~~

Pecan danish~The pastry wasn't that great (to me, as I would like it to be more fluffy), and the sugar coat at the top just spoiled the whole flavour, so I usually strip off the sugar coating before eating~Ahh, I love the custard fillings!

I understand that your fingers must be tired scrolling down this long post. Be patient, last group of photos: celebrated ed's birthday in oriental spoon - a japanese/korean restaurant.Seafood casserole. The soup itself would be enough for me to finish my rice~lol~

Some side dishes came along with the seafood casserole. The 泡菜 was fabulous!

The super super impressive sweet chilli chicken! Actually I wasn't keen at "sweet chilli", but ed insisted that this dish is really famous. Ohh oooh, it was really delicious! My first thought was that papa would like to eat this with his beer if they have it in Malaysia~The skin was crispy, but the meat was still juicy, and the texture of the meat was just great - not overcooked nor undercooked. Regarding the sweet chilli sauce, the reason I don't like sweet chilli sauce was that they are either too sweet or too spicy, and spoiling the taste of the dish. But their sweet chilli was just balance in every aspect! BRAVO! Simply the best I've ever had. Highly recommended to anyone visiting Oriental Spoon, if you have extra $30 to pay for this~Yes, it's quite pricy, but believe me, it worths it!

p/s: next post will be spring photos~

Hyvää syntymäpäivää

Happy birthday to kimi!

I tried my best to celebrate for kimi~Bought an apple cinnamon texan muffin in safeway yesterday~and ate lemon madeira cake this morning~

Pics pics:
Apple cinnamon texan muffin, costs $1.89~ I dunno what's the "texan" for, but heard from jie last time that apple + cinnamon = the best combination in the world. So decided to give it a try. It was GREAT - great taste and great value~lol~ It became cold when I reached home, so I grilled it a bit. It was nicer after I grilled it, especially the outer coat of cinnamon, YUMMY!

This thing - lemon madeira cake, doesn't taste good at all.....>.<>

Happy birthday kimi! Wishing you all the greatest thing in life, may all the wishes and dreams in your birthday come true!

Rejected

I'm not addicted to my dear blog...

Rejected twice within 6 hours doesn't make me feel good....at all.....=(

Grrrr, geram! They should have informed us at least at the beginning of our second year...Any one with brain functioning should realize that application for summer internship program in late October isn't a privilege and will not do the applicant any good! They are sooooo irresponsible!!!!

Bye bye Mamee and Yakult. Kellogg's, the least I would expect to offer me an internship program, is my last hope now.

Spidey invasion again!

Yep, after being absent for such a long time (about a year), dear spidey decided to pay me a visit again on Tuesday night. It was a super huge one, but being a veteran spider catcher (yes, after staying here for 2 years, I am very experienced in catching spiders and cockroaches~*proud*), I was calm enough to ignore its appearance. All right, to be honest, the main reason is that it was almost midnight and I was lazy to 大动干戈. So I decided to leave my room (眼不见为净) and let it disappear by itself. Too bad, it wasn't moving at all. Fine, I took out my "weapon" -- edward's kendo stick and proded it gently. It started to flee, towards the direction of my lovely bed! and somehow I managed to make it stick to the end of the kendo stick, but it somehow disappeared within a blink......I tried to look for it everywhere, but was out of luck. Before going to bed, I told fer, if I could not survive until the next morning, please tell others that I must be die of spidey's poison. Fortunately, spidey was kind enough not to feed on me that night, and therefore, I managed to survive until now. Many thanks to dear spidey~^^

The next day, which is yesterday, it appeared again, in late evening. Again, using the same method, I finally managed to catch it! Believing that it must be one of the 卒仔 of Peter Parker, I decided to let it return to Peter. Using a plastic bag, I took it to the backyard, and let it return to where it supposed to be.

-The End-

Sorry if you were expecting a climax, this is a pretty plain story, no climax. And this is the end of this post, bye~Best of luck to dear spidey!

Internship here I come!

Gonna apply for my first internship program tonight! I've sent 2 emails to my previous lecturers asking them to be my referee: the food microbiology lecturer (neh, the one made me cried after mid-semester test for last semester) agreed in no time, but unfortunately I haven't got any reply from the food chemistry lecturer. My fault =p , because I only sent her the email this afternoon, as I was too lazy last night. I'm not gonna wait for her reply - I guess she mostly would agree, although she's got no idea who I am =p.

Almost got my stuff done - resume, cover letter, result transcripts in MUFY and melb uni, and the Yu Hua's letter of recommendation =.=

My first target is Mamee~~~Reasons? Firstly, I love mamee (I mean their products~ Yes, I LOVEEEE chocolate/icecream and would like to work in cadbury, but mamee is one of the best choices left); secondly, the Bangi factory is so close to Guan Fuat Motor (a.k.a my home), I don't need to travel for so long everyday; thirdly, unlike other companies, they actually offer a "real" internship program for students - which means it will be more organised; fourthly, if I could perform well in the internship program, I guess they would hire me after my graduation; last and the least, I suppose Mamee is a "big brand" so I guess I will get quite a good amount of money~

So, everyone who is reading, keep your fingers crossed and pray for me that I could get this job!

I'm running late, got to go, bye~

1st of Oct - 天灰

After months of rumours and speculations, it is finally confirmed: kimi and ferrari are to part way. Although I've already half expected that, when it finally happened, I was extremely sad --心痛如绞,痛心疾首! Yes, it is really heart breaking...Especially after reading kimi's comment, my tears just shed off. He said he was sad to leave ferrari, and had many happy memories in ferrari...I knew he really enjoyed his time in ferrari for the first 2 seasons - he used to say a lot that he enjoys the atmosphere and likes the people in ferrari, and that ferrari will be his last team in F1. Not that I'm a ferrari fan, but since kimi feels comfortable there, I'd like him to stay as long as he wants to. Although lately, many fans in kimi's official forum claim that ferrari does not respect kimi (and I sort of agree with them~) and kimi should just leave the team, I personally think that as long as kimi still enjoys himself in the team, he should just stay. It's really heart-breaking to see kimi being sad.....T.T I just don't understand why does ferrari love alonso so much....as a driver, kimi is as good as, if not better than alonso. Why did they so desperate to have alonso in 2010?

Kimi has yet to decide his plan for next year. Whatever will be, will be. Let's move on. Wish everything goes fine with him.
